Knowing more design content suitable for digital printing can reduce the difficulty of printing to avoid errors. Often, the files used for digital printing should be flexible and simple, without the need for very accurate color registration, color matching or accurate double-sided registration. Contact your digital printers and they will give you advice on special design, imaging and software settings.
Large format design
It is not necessary to always limit the design to a standard web size. Web digital presses, such as Agfa's Chromapress, can print larger webs because of the use of continuous paper strips. You can print posters and flags up to 11.8 meters long.
Make black richer
When printing black (especially overprinted text), black is usually mixed with a certain proportion of the other three colors to make the black richer. The rich black color makes the underlying color not reveal. The ratio of the other three colors varies with different presses, paper types, background colors, and the overall effect you want. (HOHO Note: Generally do not add 4 colors, mainly add 20% blue is enough, black will look better)
Gradient
In order to prevent uneven stripes in the color mixing or gradation, the Shanghai printing factory usually controls the gradation to 1 to 4 inches. Use a lighter color with a gradient of no more than 50%. Using image processing software to add noise to the gradient can also help reduce unevenness.
Image
Some printing systems offer screening options that improve the quality of halftone images. You can ask printer operators for samples that are printed at different screen and color adjustment settings to choose the setting that works best for you.
High-key and dark tone
The optimal threshold for the high- and partial-tone portions varies from printer to printer. In general, the highlight portion cannot be lower than 5% C, 3% M and Y; the dark portion cannot be higher than 85% C, 75% M and Y.
Field and gradient
Large areas of the ground or flat screen will appear on the printing machine using toner, should be avoided. This is caused by uneven charge charge or uneven distribution of toner particles. The above phenomenon is especially true for thick paper because the thicker paper has a lower affinity for the charge than the thin paper. To avoid this, use a lighter color or shading.
Folding hands
For printing presses that use dry toner, please avoid placing the dark part on the folding handle of the paper. If the high temperature is not fixed properly, the toner at the folding handle of the paper will crack, leaving a crack in the day. Therefore, if possible, print a lighter color or white space at the crease. Also, to prevent rough creases, make sure the folds are aligned along the paper texture.
Cutting and binding
You need to know clearly that the press adapts to the size of the paper to leave bleeding and cut as many edges as possible to facilitate cutting, especially on web presses or when attaching sheets, when you use saddle stitching to compensate To squeeze out the middle page, you must use "Binding Fine Tune" during the imposition to adjust the position of each page. (HOHO Note: This is a very important part, everyone must pay attention)
Software
When using the path cut function in Adobe Photoshop, the smoothness of the general image is 5 or 6. For very small images, use smoothness 1 or 2 when creating the path, and then set the smoothness when storing the path. . In addition, 1-bitTiff may be a problem when printing, please convert it to grayscale Tiff or bitmap PICT format. In the IIIustrator, convert the text font to a path.
In QuarkXPress, avoid rotating the graphics in the graphics box separately, but rotate the entire graphics box.
personalize
If you want to change the image or text for personal printing, you must determine the size of the replacement element for the same location and for the variable position. You need at least two proofs with different alternatives on each page to ensure that the different elements are placed in the same position correctly.
